Our first Community Contributor: Kaleigh Nelles

Kaleigh was born and raised in Ashland, Wisconsin. She grew up in the country as part of a close-knit family with her sister, mother, and father, who remains incredibly close today. Early personal and family encounters with chronic health conditions sprouted her interest in pursuing medicine to walk with others along their journey through both health and illness. She believes that improving social, political, and economic structures is key to improving individual and population health for all people, especially those in rural communities and BIPOC. Kaleigh completed her bachelor of science degree at the University of Minnesota Duluth in 2018 and will graduate from the Doctor of Medicine program at the University of Minnesota Medical School in May 2022.

Welcome to the team, Kaleigh!
