We have the opportunity to focus public attention on creating a country where everyone is safe and free, with a care system and economy that works for all of us. We have a clear vision for a better future: by coming together to rewrite the rules and making the wealthiest few pay their fair share, we can ensure that everyone — Black, white and brown, native and newcomer — can earn a good living and have a good life; we can resource our schools so that every child can pursue their dreams; and we can provide families with the care we all need to get and stay well.

To succeed in this moment, we must cut through the sense of inevitability our opposition has built that the way things are now reflects how they will always be. By joining together, Black, white, and brown, we will vote in record numbers and raise our voices in the streets to swear in a government of, by, and for the people.

The truth is that the future is the sum of the changes we demand, the courage we display, and how we stand with and for each other.

We are from northern Wisconsin and we know that people here have a strong sense of identity centered in their rural communities and small towns, and that each has its own unique sensibility. But there are common values and ideals that connect us all and make this a wonderful place to live – and that’s why we center our work and our platform, the Progress North People’s Charter, on them: equity, people-centered democracy, and the common good. We have developed a complete candidate screening and endorsement process that puts the power of selection in the hands of our members. Progress North endorsed candidates will embody our core values and will have met the approval of a majority of our members.

Becoming a member is easy – but it’s also incredibly important. Our members are making investments in the work we do every day, and they’re the people who come to the table to help us decide which candidates are the ones who earn our public endorsement and support. Our partner organization Citizen Action of Wisconsin is proud to host the state’s FIRST 2022 U.S. Senate Candidate Forum with top candidates for the WI U.S. Senate on Tuesday, November 16th, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. We are proud to be utilizing this opportunity as a part of the Progress North endorsement process.

This forum is an important part of our endorsement process. Members from each organizing cooperative from around the state will ask questions of U.S Senate Candidates relating to key parts of Progress North’s platform, including a fair healthcare system, climate equity, and a strong economy for working people. In order to vote in our endorsement process the following criteria MUST be met:

-A dues paying member of Progress North and;
-You have been asked to be on the core team, advisory committee or Progress North Village by a Progress North staff member.
-To vote, members must be present in the virtual forum (or viewed the recording) to hear the complete screening interview of all candidates in any given race; latecomers or those unable to view the recording may not participate in voting but may be allowed to participate in our discussion.
